MAGNUS WENT
DOWN TO THE QUARRY
Magnus went down to the quarry
To lift himself some rocks
With loins girded for battle
And a shock of golden locks
He sized up a magnificent boulder
And approached it confidently
It had laid undisturbed for centuries
But it had not seen the likes of he
He bent down in front of the Great Stone
And pulled it close to his chest
It wondered, “Who is this behemoth,
Who has awoken me from rest?”
Now, Magnus began to rise slowly
As he struggled to stand erect
He had lifted many a stone
Would this be the one he’d regret?
His teeth clenched together
As his face turned fire red
But at last, he mastered the Great Stone
And raised it above his head
He hurled this piece of the planet
And watched it smash to bits
Then he walked about for some time
To find another stone to lift
Magnus went down to the quarry
To lift himself some rocks
With loins girded for battle
And a shock of golden locks
